Top ranked Atleticos (15-9) recorded its ninth loss in San German on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Cangrejeros (11-12) 95-92. Santurce made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international Isaiah Pineiro (201-1995, college: San Diego) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. American center Montrezl Harrell (203-1994, college: Louisville) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cangrejeros have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Santurce maintains fifth place with 11-12 record. San German at the other side still keeps top position with nine games lost. Santurce are looking forward to face Quebradillas (#6) on the road in the next round. San German will play against Aguada (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Sixth-ranked Osos (8-15) made lots of trouble for first ranked Vaqueros (16-9) in Manati. The visitors from Bayamon managed to secure only three-point victory 98-95. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American Jae Crowder (198-1990, college: Marquette, agency: Shark Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 rebounds. Gary Browne contributed with 18 points and 9 assists for the winners. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for Manati. Osos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vaqueros. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-9 record. Manati lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Bayamon will play against Carolina (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Manati will play against Carolina and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Ponce between Piratas and Leones. Sixth ranked Piratas (7-17) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Leones (8-16). Piratas managed to escape with a 1-point win 87-86 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for Emmanuel Mudiay who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 assists. At the losing side Jezreel De Jesus responded with 25 points and 4 assists. Quebradillas maintains sixth place with 7-17 record. Ponce lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 16 games lost. Quebradillas will meet at home higher ranked Santurce (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ponce will play against Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 19 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Guaynabo defeated Carolina in a road game 94-90. Caguas beat Aguada at home 101-88. Mayaguez won against Ponce on the opponent's court 92-90. Arecibo unfortunately lost to Quebradillas in a home game 82-88.

Carolina - Guaynabo 90-94

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Carolina where 3rd placed Gigantes (12-10) were defeated by fourth ranked Mets (12-11) 94-90 on Friday. Guaynabo outrebounded Carolina 41-30 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guaynabo looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Jaysean Paige (188-1994, college: WVU) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. International center Ismael Romero (205-1991) helped adding 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side the former international point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU, agency: Shark Sports Management) responded with 22 points and American forward Daniel Rivera (201-2002, college: UAB) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Guaynabo and four Carolina players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guaynabo maintains fourth place with 12-11 record. Loser Gigantes keeps the third position with ten games lost. Guaynabo will meet at home Ponce (#5) in the next round. Carolina will play against the league's leader Bayamon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

A very close game took place in Ponce between Piratas and Leones. Sixth ranked Piratas (7-17) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Leones (8-16). Piratas managed to escape with a 1-point win 87-86 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 assists. American-Italian forward Grant Basile (206-2000, college: Virginia Tech) helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and American guard Jalen Crutcher (187-1999, college: Dayton) scored 22 points and 4 assists. Five Quebradillas and four Ponce players scored in double figures. Quebradillas maintains sixth place with 7-17 record. Ponce lost their fourth game in a row. The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Criollos' (15-8) home victory over 3rd placed Santeros (11-11) 101-88 on Saturday. Caguas outrebounded Aguada 42-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Caguas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American center Moses Brown (218-1999, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Guard Christian Lopez (183-1995) helped adding 22 points. Criollos' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American-North Macedonian center Jacob Wiley (203-1994, college: EWU) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Matthew Lee (183-1999, college: Missouri St.) scored 19 points. Five Aguada players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Criollos. Caguas maintains second place with 15-8 record behind leader San German. Loser Santeros keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Caguas will meet at home league's second-placed Arecibo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aguada will play against the league's leader San German and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mayaguez made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Australian guard Nathan Sobey (190-1990, college: Wyoming) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized Nicaraguan Jared Ruiz (188-1992) helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. Indios' coach Ivan Velez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game.
